Come out and celebrate two special events on Saturday, July 25 from 10 am to 12 noon: The City of Alameda is proud to announce the grand re-opening of the Longfellow Playground Structure and the 25th Anniversary of the American Disabilities Act.

Alameda’s Recreation and Park Department and the Commission on Disability Issues are hosting a celebration to introduce the renovation of the Longfellow Playground which includes the first rubberized, all accessible playground surface.

To mark the 25th Anniversary of the American Disabilities Act the celebration will promote awareness of disability issues and creative solutions to help all Alamedans improve their quality of life. The Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) will have information about their organization and their Adaptive Cycling Center.

Funding for the replacement was provided by GameTime and a California State Tire Derived Product Grant for the playground replacement.   Special recognition is awarded to the Friends of the Park Foundation who provided matching funds of $20,000 for the replacement renovation.
