Sandbag Station Opens Tuesday, December 8

To prepare for upcoming storms, the Public Works Department is offering up to five (5) free sandbags to Alameda residents. Residents will receive their sandbags after showing proof of residency, such as an Alameda Municipal Power bill or current drivers license with an Alameda address.  Some sandbags are already filled, although residents should be prepared to fill their own.

The sandbag station will be open the following days of the week and hours:

Days of the Week:               Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
(except for Christmas Eve, New Year Eve, and during storms)

Time:                                   11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Location:                             On Lexington Street just off West Tower Avenue (former Alameda Naval Air Station)

If you have any questions or comments, please call Public Works at 510-747-7900 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.  By working together, Alameda residents and the Public Works Department can help lessen the impacts of this season’s storms.  More tips on storm preparedness can be found at: http://alamedaca.gov/public-works/how-public-works-preparing-storm-season.
