Airports
Alameda is close to three international airports: Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose. Oakland International Airport is five miles from Alameda and has 14 carriers providing service to 150 cities on 258 daily departures (51 are all-cargo flights). Oakland International is also the Bay Area hub for the United Parcel Service and the northern California operations center for Federal Express.
Highways
Road access is facilitated by an excellent network of nearby federal highways (Interstates 880, 80, 580, and 680), and California state highways 24 and 37. Interstate 880 is located 1.5 miles from Alameda. We are also acessed easily with public transit.
Port of Oakland
Alameda is located immediately adjacent to the Port of Oakland, a world-class international cargo transportation and distribution hub. Oakland's cargo volume makes it the fourth busiest container port in the United States, and ranks San Francisco Bay among the three principal Pacific Coast gateways for U.S. containerized cargoes, along with San Pedro Bay in southern California and Puget Sound in the Pacific Northwest.
Oakland's 20 deepwater berths and 35 container cranes, 29 of which are Post-Panamax size, are backed by a network of local roads and interstate freeways, warehouses, and intermodal rail yards. The Union Pacific and BNSF railroad facilities are located next to the heart of the marine terminal area to provide a reliable and efficient movement of cargo between the marine terminals or transload facilities and the intermodal rail facilities.
