In anticipation of the new retails stores opening at Alameda Landing and South Shore Shopping Center as well as the holiday hiring season, the City of Alameda is sponsoring two events for local job seekers: The Job Readiness Workshop, and the Job Fair.
- The Job Readiness Workshop will be Saturday, October 11, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Albert H. DeWitt Officers’ Club, 641 West Red Line Ave., Alameda Point.
- The Job Fair will be Wednesday, October 15, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at College of Alameda, Building F, 555 Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway (Atlantic Ave.), Alameda.
At the Job Readiness Workshop, an experienced human resources consultant will cover various topics related to the hiring process such as: wardrobe and presentation, navigating the online application process, and how to handle difficult interview questions. The Job Readiness Workshop will also provide special tips for the Job Fair, which will be held the following week. Space is limited and registration is required at www.alamedajobreadinessworkshop.eventbrite.com or by calling 510-747-6893.
At the Job Fair there will be hiring representatives and employment applications for local employers. The businesses will be recruiting for various positions, including accounting, sales, and security. Participants may register in advance at www.alamedajobfair.eventbrite.com
“Economic development is more than bricks and mortar. It is also an opportunity for residents to benefit directly by effectively competing for jobs that new businesses bring to the community,” said Debbie Potter, the City’s Community Development Director.
Both events are co-sponsored by the City of Alameda’s Community Development Department and Housing Authority, the College of Alameda’s One Stop Career Center, and Alameda Point Collaborative.
