Local author discusses "What It Is Like To Go To War"

As a winner of Cal Humanities’ California Reads grant the Alameda Free Library has distributed 50 copies of this year’s selection, NYT Best Selling Memoir What It Is Like To Go To War by Viet Nam War veteran Karl Marlantes.  The Alameda Free Library is hosting several events related to the book and the grant’s theme “War Comes Home” focusing on the veteran experience.

A lecture and discussion about the book will be held on Thursday October 16, at 6pm in the Main Library’s Stafford Meeting Room.  Local Author and retired UC Davis professor, Jay Mechling, brings his expertise to this event and will speak to the themes of the book and the veteran experience in America. This event is open to the public and does not require any registration.  More information can be found here.
