On August 9, 2014, Assemblymember Rob Bonta awarded Bob Rollins with a California Legislature Assembly Resolution in honor of his volunteer work for the Alameda Police Department Traffic Section. Rollins was recognized for his knowledge, expertise, and dedication as the Police Department’s Child Safety Seat Coordinator.
Alameda born and raised, Rollins has coordinated over 1800 child seat installations and inspections for the Alameda Police Department. Working hand-in-hand with Habitot Children’s Museum and members of the Alameda County Car-seat Workgroup, he coordinates four special educational events a year at the Alameda Police Department. “We are very fortunate and grateful to have Bob as an APD Traffic Section volunteer,” said Police Chief Paul Rolleri. “He is obviously very dedicated and a passionate advocate of child safety, and we are a safer community due to his efforts.”
Rollins is a retired 30 year veteran of the Berkeley Police Department. Over the course of his career, he spent a majority of his time within the Traffic Division as a motor officer, collision investigator, and as the lead technician in their Child Safety Seat program. After retiring seven years ago, Rollins began volunteering for the Alameda Police Department Traffic Section where he has continued promoting his passion for child safety.
Rollins schedules private appointments at APD for car seat inspection and installation with special emphasis on educating new parents about the importance of proper placement and installation. Appointments can be made by calling APD at 510-337-8590.
