The City of Alameda will host a Developer Open House on Monday, September 29th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Alameda Free Library to provide community members an opportunity to meet the four developer finalists for Sites A and B at Alameda Point.
With the selection process down to the final round for Sites A and B, two development teams remain in contention for each parcel. Brookfield Residential and Alameda Point Partners are the two short listed teams for the residential mixed-use Site A, and Catellus Development Corporation and Mission Bay Development Group are the two finalists for the commercial development of Site B. With the City Council scheduled to make its final selection for each site this fall, the City wants to foster a dialogue between interested members of the community and the developers.
“This is an excellent opportunity for everyone in Alameda to come down and meet the potential developers for Alameda Point and learn about what they have successfully built in the past,” said Mayor Marie Gilmore.
“Selecting qualified developers for Alameda Point is another key step towards commencing near-term development at Alameda Point,” said City Manager John Russo, “The developers that the City Council ends up selecting will play a major role in implementing the community’s vision for Alameda Point.”
At the Open House, there will be no formal presentations. Instead, each team will have a designated area to display images of their best past work that is relevant to Alameda Point. Community members can speak one-on-one with any of the teams to ask questions and discuss Alameda Point. City staff will also have a table where visitors can ask about the City’s overall vision and process for developing Alameda Point.
