Disposal of your holiday tree can be easy and environmentally friendly. Two options are available to City of Alameda residents, and are as follows.
Collection by Boy Scout Troup 11:
Since 1972, Boy Scout Troop 11 has collected non-artificial, clean holiday trees without flocking as an annual fundraiser. This year, the annual collection event will take place on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Residents may purchase a special tree collection tag from Troop 11. Your payment and contact options are: phone at 510-517-7701; email ctpu@troop11alameda.com; or, visit their dedicated webpage at troop11alameda.com/tree-pickup.html. Troop 11 requests the trees be placed at the curb by 8:00 a.m. on the collection day. Please remember to remove all decorations and tree stands. This is a fund raising event for Troop 11 to fund their scout activities and purchase needed equipment and gear. The collected trees are returned to Alameda as mulch for the Alameda Point Collaborative.
Collection by Alameda County Industries:
Residents may also choose to put the trees next to their green cart on their regular collection day beginning December 26, 2015 and continuing throughout the month of January. The maximum allowable length of tree piece is six feet. All tinsel and decorations must be removed prior to placing the tree curbside for collection. There is no extra charge for holiday tree collection by Alameda County Industries (ACI).
