Council to Consider Appointment of New City Manager

The Alameda City Council will consider appointing a new City Manager on January 19, 2016. Jill Keimach, the current Town Manager of Moraga, California, has agreed to become Alameda’s new City Manager.

The appointment follows a six-month recruiting process which included both community and City employee interview panels giving input to the City Council. If Ms. Keimach’s four-year employment contract is approved, she will begin on March 7, 2016 with an annual base salary of $245,000.

Ms. Keimach has over 25 years of experience in the public sector including five years as Town Manager with the Town of Moraga. Prior to her tenure in Moraga, she was the Community Development Director in the City of Fremont and in the City of El Cerrito, and was Project Manager of the Bay Trail for the Association of Bay Area Governments. Ms. Keimach has a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and a Master’s Degree in City Planning, both from U.C. Berkeley.

Assistant City Manager Liz Warmerdam has been Interim City Manager since May of 2015, when former City Manager John Russo left to become the City Manager of City of Riverside.

“It has been a true honor to work with Ms. Warmerdam,” said Mayor Trish Spencer. “She has held our community together since the departure of Mr. Russo and I am very grateful to her. I am looking forward to working with Ms. Keimach and continuing our efforts.”

Ms. Warmerdam will return to her previous duties as Assistant City Manager of the City of Alameda upon Ms. Keimach’s appointment.
