Alameda Free Library to Host Board Game Program for All Ages

Alameda Free Library will join thousands of libraries around the world for an annual celebration of gaming in libraries. On Saturday, November 19, the Alameda Free Library will host a board game program for International Games Day @ Your Library, a day to celebrate playing games with your community. The program will be from 1:00 to 4:45 PM at the Main Library on 1550 Oak Street.

International Games Day @ Your Library is an international initiative supported by the American Library Association, the Australian Library and Information Association, and Nordic Game Day. It was created to encourage communities across the world to collaborate and play games together in the library. All seven continents, including Antarctica, participated in the game day last year.

The library will provide a selection of board games and participants may also bring their own games to play. Participants can also try out board games from the new circulating board game collection, and can check out a board game to take home. Come and learn games such as Gloom, Dixit, Sushi Go, and more! Friendly competition is encouraged and all skill levels of players are invited to participate. All ages are welcome at this free program. Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please call the Main Library Reference Desk at (510) 747-7713 with any questions.
