Grand Jurors Needed for 2017-18 Term of the Alameda County Civil Grand Jury
The Alameda County Civil Grand Jury is asking qualified citizens to apply. Grand Jurors are provided training and support throughout their service. They must be willing to participate in questioning witnesses, reading and analyzing investigative materials, and in writing their final reports. Persons selected for Grand Jury service must commit to serve a minimum of one year (July 1 through June 30), and must be able to meet on Wednesday and Thursday mornings each week.
What: The Alameda County Civil Grand Jury is an arm of the court whose primary responsibility is to examine the operations of local government agencies and to investigate citizen complaints, acting as the public’s watchdog. Its independence gives the Grand Jury a unique role in securing local government accountability.
Who: Required qualifications include United States citizenship, Alameda County residency for one year immediately before being selected, and sufficient knowledge of the English language. Additional desired qualifications include being interested in community affairs, the ability to work well with others in a group setting, and possessing investigative skills.
When: Applications for the Alameda County Civil Grand Jury are being accepted through April 15, 2017 for the fiscal year starting July 1, 2017.
