Alameda’s Parade Celebrates 41st Year
New this year -- inaugural Coast Guard Festival joins the festivities
Alameda’s 4th of July Parade is the longest in the nation with a route that spans 3.3 miles. This year, the parade will be bigger than ever before with more than 170 entries, 2,500 participants, and over 60,000 spectators. This hometown celebration includes floats, marching bands, 150 equestrians (and 1 bull), dance troops, bands, and classic cars driving our dignitaries.
Following the parade, the inaugural Alameda Coast Guard Festival will be held at Pier 3 near the USS Hornet at Alameda Point. Alameda is honored to be one of 12 cities throughout the nation designated as a Coast Guard City.
“The Coast Guard is grateful for the support of the community of Alameda, and we are honored and humbled to participate in the inaugural Alameda Coast Guard Festival,” said Vice Adm. Fred Midgette, commander, U.S. Coast Guard Pacific Area. “Military life and duties can be stressful, so living and working in a supportive community, like Alameda, is vital to the wellbeing of our Coast Guard members and their families.”
