Committed to building relationships with the community, the Alameda Police Department (APD) is bringing back its popular Citizen Police Academy. The Academy will allow participants to learn about the agency and engage with APD officers and personnel through lectures and hands-on activities. Topics include officer onboarding and training, patrol procedures, dispatching, traffic, our canine unit, special investigations, and more.

While the community has eagerly awaited the program’s return, so has APD staff. “I am excited that the program is coming back. It gives the community a chance to see what it is like to be an officer outside of what’s seen on TV,” said Alameda Police Sergeant Dave Pascoe.

APD’s Citizen Police Academy will include 11 evening sessions hosted at the Alameda Police Department. Upon successful completion of the Academy, participants can apply for APD’s Volunteer in Policing program to assist with future APD events.
