The Public Works Department, the Alameda Unified School District, and the Police Department invite the public to the first meeting to discuss potential improvements to the five-legged Central Avenue/Third Street/Taylor Avenue intersection.
When: Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.
Where: Encinal High School Cafeteria (210 Central Avenue)
What: Modify intersection at Central Avenue/Third Street/Taylor Avenue to:
- Improve pedestrian/bicycle crossings
- Simplify the intersection
- Minimize inconvenience to residents
- Reduce congestion
- Improve student drop-off and pick-up
This meeting will be a working session that will include a review of community concerns, a presentation of potential concept ideas, and small group discussions where participants will be asked to review and develop options on how to best proceed.

All written comments will be part of the official public record. Furthermore, Public Works staff has scheduled a second community workshop at Encinal High School Cafeteria on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. to review preferred options. The Transportation Commission will review the recommended options on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. (City Council Chambers, 2263 Santa Clara Avenue).
