Alameda Point Conveyance Ceremony

The United States Navy has transferred the deeds to land at the former Naval Air Station – Alameda, to the City of Alameda.

On Monday, June 24th at 2:00 p.m. the City held a Phase 1 Conveyance Ceremony, with special guests

  • Congresswoman Barbara Lee
  • Assistant Secretary of the Navy Roger Natsuhara
  • Alameda Mayor Marie Gilmore
  • City Manager John Russo

“This is a momentous occasion for the City of Alameda,” said Marie Gilmore, Mayor of Alameda. “Twenty years after the federal government announced the closure of this Naval Air Station, we are now the proud owner of over 1,300 acres of property in one of the most coveted locations in the Bay Area.”

“It is truly a moment to celebrate, yet we wouldn’t be here without the hard work of many, many people and agencies that over the years rolled up their sleeves to help us get here,” Gilmore said. “So, on behalf of the residents of Alameda, I declare today to be a ‘Day of Gratitude’.”
