The City of Alameda Community Development Department has restarted its initiative to revise and revamp the City’s existing Public Art Program.  As a result, a community meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, November 12, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, to be held in the Dining Room at Mastick Senior Center. Mastick Senior Center is located at 1155 Santa Clara Avenue.  Parking is available in the adjacent public parking lot on Santa Clara Avenue.  Light refreshments will be served.

The purpose of this meeting is: (1) for City staff to review its recommendations for changes to the City’s Public Art Program; (2) to discuss staff recommendations for use of existing monies in the City’s Public Art Fund; and (3) to obtain community feedback on the above items.

For your reference, the City’s Public Art Program statute can be found at Section 30-65 of the City’s Municipal Code which can be accessed via the internet on the City’s website here.

As part of this effort, a report entitled, “Synergy: Public Art for Alameda,” was prepared for the City in 2012. The report can be found here.

We look forward to seeing you on November 12, and encourage you to let anybody who might be interested know of this important meeting.  If you are unable to attend but would like to provide your input or feedback, please do so by sending an e-mail to econdev@alamedaca.gov, or in writing to the following address:
