For Immediate Release
Annual Sewer Replacement Project Commencing
The City’s annual sewer replacement project will begin in late September 2015 and is estimated to be completed by September 2016. Construction work hours are restricted Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. near school locations. The work will consist of replacing aging sewer mains, laterals, and manholes at the following streets:
- Ralph Appezzato Memorial Parkway, Main Street to Third Street
- Eagle Avenue, Constitution Way to just west of Webster Street
- Webster Street, Pacific Avenue to Haight Avenue
- Alameda Avenue, Walnut Street to Union Street
- Versailles Avenue, San Jose Avenue to Central Avenue
- Thompson Avenue, High Street to Fernside Boulevard
- Marina Drive, Tilden Way to High Street
- Fernside Boulevard, Encinal Avenue to Central Avenue
- Broadway, La Jolla Drive to Otis Drive
- Palmera Court and Dayton Avenue
- Clinton Avenue, Paru Street to Lafayette Street
The City will phase the construction by street blocks and will make every effort to minimize all disruptions. Sewer service will not be interrupted. The contractor will keep one lane of traffic open at all times, but motorists and residents may experience minor disruptions in traffic, temporary loss of on-street parking, an increase in noise levels, and dust during construction.
The contractor will place “No Parking” signs 72-hours in advance of the planned work to advise when the work will begin and parking restrictions will become effective.
The City appreciates your cooperation and patience, and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this project may cause. Questions or information regarding the project should be directed to Erin Smith at (510) 747-7938. This project is funded by the Sewer Enterprise Fund.
