Special City Council Meeting on Making Central Avenue Safer for Pedestrians, Bicyclists and Motorists
The City invites you to participate in the special City Council meeting on Wednesday, February 24 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, which will focus on a concept to make Central Avenue between Main Street/Pacific Avenue and Sherman Street/Encinal Avenue (Exhibit 1) safer for pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists including for students from Encinal and Paden Schools located along this stretch of Central Avenue. At this City Council meeting, City staff will request the City Council to approve a concept that includes enhancing pedestrian access, installing bike lanes and reducing motor vehicle travel lanes from four lanes to three lanes to make the street safer for bicyclists, pedestrians and motorists. A City Council approval at this meeting will conclude the planning effort with the next step being to seek funds for design and construction.
