Local Historian to Share the Civic Heart of Alameda
From the oldest building (City Hall, opened in 1895) to the newest (Main Library, opened in 2006), Alameda’s Civic Center is rich with history and a varied architecture. As part of the lead-in to the tenth anniversary of the Main Library, join Alameda native Woody Minor for a talk about the Civic Center on Tuesday, September 20th at 6:30pm at the Main Library, 1550 Oak Street, Alameda.
Designed by architect Thomas Hacker, the Main Library is a handsome building worthy of being hallowed as a major monument to the Modern style of architecture. Alameda architect-author Pierluigi Serraino will add the Modernist perspective to Woody’s historical discourse.
This event is free and open to everyone. For more information, please contact the Alameda Free Library at 510-747-7777.
