Join Us for a Public Workshop on Climate Change

The City of Alameda and Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA) will sponsor a second workshop on Thursday, October 5, to brainstorm next steps for updating the City’s Local Action Plan for Climate Protection and for making Alameda a more sustainable city.

What:             Love Our Green Island – sustainable city town hall event

When:             Thursday, October 5, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm (light refreshments served)

Where:            Alameda Main Library - 1550 Oak Street, Alameda, CA 94501

Alameda is vulnerable to climate change with potential impacts being sea level rise and more extreme weather including droughts, flooding from storm events and heatwaves, as well as potential health impacts such as epidemics or food shortages. The City of Alameda is updating the Climate Action Plan, which will show how Alamedans can reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute towards global warming and climate change. The Climate Action Plan update also could include adaptation, which would identify climate risks and opportunities, assess options such as wetlands and levees, and implement the most sustainable course of action that can be phased in as climate change impacts evolve.

All community members are welcome to participate in any of the following outreach activities:

·         Town Hall Meeting: Thursday, October 5 at 6:30 pm in the Main Library

·         Public Utilities Board Meeting: Monday, October 16 at 7 pm in the City Council Chambers (2263 Santa Clara Avenue, 3rd Floor)
