The Alameda Police Department (APD) will be participating in the Pink Patch Project, a public awareness campaign designed to bring attention to the fight against breast cancer and support cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.

During the month of October, employees of the Alameda Police Department will demonstrate their support of breast cancer awareness by wearing pink shoulder patches or pins on their uniforms. The pink patches and pins are intended to start a dialogue within the community about the importance of early detection and treatment in the fight against breast cancer.

Beginning September 6, APD will be selling pink shoulder patches and lapel pins for $10 to the public. All proceeds will be donated to the HERS Breast Cancer Foundation, a nonprofit organization headquartered in Fremont, CA dedicated to providing post-surgical products and services to breast cancer patients.
