Civic Center Parking Structure

With rates at half the cost of parking meters, and paid hours that end at 5 p.m. instead of 6 p.m., the 341-space Civic Center Parking Structure is the best deal in town for parking near movies, surrounding businesses and civic institutions.

Address 1416 Oak Street

Hours of Operation -- The garage is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Paid Parking Garage patrons are required to pre-pay for parking for up to four hours between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays. The parking rate is $0.75 per hour. Pay-by-Space System: The parking structure utilizes prepaid pay-by-space meter machines that function like conventional parking meters. Just be sure to note the number of your parking space so you can enter it in the keypad. Located in the Civic Center Parking Structure near the ground floor elevator bank, the pay-by-space machines feature keypads for input and graphic screens for operating instructions. Monthly Permit Parking Levels 5 and 6 of the parking structure are available for monthly permit holders. For more information or to purchase a permit, contact PCI, the City's management contractor, at jlibre@pci-sf.com or 415-553-6883.

Parking Validation -- The Alameda Theater validates parking for a future trip to the garage. When you attend a movie, you'll receive a paper coupon from the movie theater with a printed code number which may be entered at the pay-by-space machine in the garage during a future visit. The coupon will enable you to park free for up to three hours. In the future, other Park Street merchants may also offer validation coupons. Electric Car Parking and Charging There are three spaces with re-charging stations reserved for electric cars on the first floor of the garage. Payment for parking in these spaces is the same as is described above. Click here for information on the Electric Vehicle Charging Station and the Chargepass Card. Bike Parking There are 24 bike racks and 16 electronic bike lockers (elockers) located in the garage. BikeLink elockers are a secure on-demand parking system for small vehicles. They are designed to make it easier to use transit and other mobility alternatives by enabling convenient and secure temporary storage of bicycles, electric bicycles, or scooters.

How does BikeLink work? -- Get a BikeLink card. BikeLink cards can be purchased at www.bikelink.org and can be used at any BikeLink locker located throughout the Bay Area. Insert Card. The screen guides you through a very quick process to start your rental. Park Your Bike. When you start your rental, the door unlocks. When you remove your card, the door locks, and your bike remains secure even if the meter expires. End Rental. Insert your card and get your refund! Unlike a parking meter, unused time is refunded. The BikeLink card can be used at any BikeLink elocker or retrofitted bike locker. Elockers are available or will be available in a number of other surrounding jurisdictions and at many BART and VTA transit stations. For more information on the BikeLink system and elockers, please access the website www.bikelink.org. The elockers were funded by the Bay Area Air Quality Management District's Transportation Fund for Clean Air, in conjunction with funds provided by the City of Alameda.
