City Manager John Russo has appointed Elizabeth Warmerdam as Assistant City Manager for Alameda. A resident of Alameda, Ms. Warmerdam lives on the West End with her husband and their three children.
“Ms. Warmerdam is one of the most highly respected public managers in the Bay Area. Her superb performance in a most difficult situation in Hercules amply demonstrates both her professional skill and her strong character,” said Russo. “I am looking forward to working with her.”
Currently the deputy city manager for the City of Hercules, Ms. Warmerdam has served as that city’s interim city manager, finance director, and assistant city manager.
“I couldn’t be happier for Liz,” said Hercules City Manager Steve Duran. “This is a great opportunity for her and she will be a tremendous asset for the City of Alameda. She’ll be sorely missed here in Hercules. Her contributions cannot be overstated. In times of extreme tumult, including a recall election, severe budget cuts, and serial interim city managers, no one was more dedicated or did more for Hercules. I will personally miss her keen mind, good counsel, and ability to work well with everyone.”
Ms. Warmerdam served in the US Army from 1987 – 1992, reaching the rank of Captain. She was also on the University of Rochester’s NCAA Division 3 Women’s national championship winning soccer team.
