The City of Alameda Permit Center is the central location for obtaining permits for planning, building, fire, engineering, and special events. The Permit Center assists customers through every aspect of the permitting process from initial questions and pre-application meetings through inspections and final certificate of occupancy.

Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (3:00 p.m. cut-off for walk-in customers)

Schedule a Building Inspection
To schedule a Building Inspection, please call (510) 747-6830 between 7:30 a.m.-8:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday at least two (2) business days in advance of the desired inspection date. Please note that our available appointments for inspections are currently one week out.
Online e-portal
We are pleased to offer online permit research to citizens, businesses and visitors. Licensed contractors can also apply for simple permits.
How to Apply for a Permit Online
Contractors who are currently licensed to do business within the City of Alameda can apply online for simple over-the-counter or trade permits. These permits do not require the submission of drawings of supporting documents. To use the portal, first click "Register for an Account" and complete the registration information. Once registered, simply complete the online form and pay the required fee.
Permit Research
Citizens may research Building, Planning, Fire and Public Works permits, fees, plan check correction lists, approval letters, and inspection results 24 hours a day. You do not need to register in order to view this information.
