Sidewalk Repair on Central Avenue
The City of Alameda’s sidewalk contractor is scheduled to begin sidewalk repairs on the south side of Central Avenue, between Oak Street and Park Street. The work will consist of removal and replacement of damaged sidewalk. During construction, motorists may experience minor disruptions in traffic; an increase in noise and dust levels; temporary loss of on-street parking; and temporary loss of entry access to City owned parking lot C from Central Avenue, however, motorists will be able to access parking lot C from Alameda Avenue.
Construction hours are Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weather permitting, the work is scheduled to occur as follows:
December 28: “No Parking” signs will be posted around the work area.
December 29: Concrete sidewalk marked for removal within the work area will be cut with a concrete saw. Concrete saw cutting will occur in the morning and be completed within approximately four hours.
December 30, 2016 – January 2, 2017: The Contractor will demobilize and no work will occur over the New Year’s holiday.
January 3: The Contractor will remobilize. Demolition and installation of concrete shall occur in the areas that had previously been saw cut on December 29, 2016.
January 4: Cleanup.
January 5: Removal of signage - all work completed.
Prior to construction the property/business owners will be advised by door hangers 24 hours in advance. “No Parking” signs will be posted 24 hours in advance where parking spaces will be impacted by the work. Pedestrians may be directed to temporarily use the adjacent sidewalk.
The work is funded by the Alameda County ½ cent Sales Tax Measure B, Gas Tax, and General Fund.
