NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City of Alameda will receive sealed bids until 2:00 p.m. on March 24, 2015 for the construction of the Emergency Operations Center, No. P.W. 06-14-23 and Fire Station 3, No. P.W. 12-14-18. Bids must be presented to Robert G. Haun, Public Works Director, City of Alameda Public Works Department, 950 W. Mall Square, Room 110, Alameda, CA 94501, under sealed cover, plainly marked on the outside as follows: “CITY OF ALAMEDA - SEALED BID FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER, NO. P.W. 06-14-23 AND FIRE STATION 3, NO. P.W. 12-14-18.”
On August 1, 2014, the Public Works Department sent out notices of Statements of Qualification (SOQ) to prequalify contractors to bid on the Emergency Operations Center. The SOQ’s were due on August 21, 2014. On August 28, 2014, the City announced the three prequalified general contractors:
- Alten Construction (Richmond, CA)
- S.J. Amoroso Construction (Redwood Shores, CA)
- Sausal Corporation (San Leandro, CA)
On September 2, 2014, the City Council adopted plans and specifications and authorized a call for bids for the construction of the EOC. On March 3, 2015 the City Council approved plans and specifications for Fire Station 3 and authorized a call for bids. Please note that these projects are being combined and will bid as one.
Interested SUBCONTRACTORS are encouraged to contact the three prequalified General Contractors directly.
Specifications, drawings and all necessary project information will be available for viewing/downloading from the consultant’s (Brown, Reynolds, Watford Architect) website www.brwarch.com at no charge by late this afternoon. Under FTP site select “Request a Login”.

DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS (DIR) COMPLIANCE AND PREVAILING WAGE REQUIREMENTS ON PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS:
- No Contractor or Subcontractor may be listed on a bid proposal for a public works project unless registered with the DIR.
- No Contractor or Subcontractor may be awarded a contract for public work on a public works project unless registered with the DIR.
- This project is subject to compliance monitoring and enforcement by the DIR.
- The Prime Contractor is required to post job site notices prescribed by regulation See 8 Calif. Code Regulation §16451(d).
- Effective April 1, 2015, All Contractors and Subcontractors must furnish electronic certified payroll records directly to the Labor Commissioner.
Please note that the Alameda City Council encourages all contractors/consultants and other businesses providing services to the City to hire Alameda residents, pursuant to City Resolution No. 12278.
