Pier 2 Sewage System Installation

On behalf of PM Realty Group (representing the Owner, City of Alameda) we invite qualified contractors to submit a proposal for the engineering, design and installation of an above pier sewer line and pump installation at Alameda Point’s Pier 2, 1499 Ferry Point, Alameda, California (Project).

 

INTRODUCTION

 

The City of Alameda is the owner of Pier 2 at Alameda Point. Due to severe deterioration and the overall poor physical condition of the present sewer system serving Pier 2, a complete replacement is being sought. The City seeks to abandon the existing under deck system for a new, above deck HDPE pipe system. An estimate of cost is being provided of $1,000,000.00.

 

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

 

The purpose of the project is for engineering, design and Installation of a new sanitary sewer pipe system using all new equipment.

 

The work includes the installation of approximately 2,400 linear feet of 4” HDPE SDR 11 Pipe (1,200 lf on either side of the pier) with ten (10) connection points, including a valve and check valve at each with supporting hardware. The pipe will be installed on concrete block saddles and held with stainless steel clamps. The blocks will be anchored to the deck with ¾” stainless steel rods. Both pipes will tie together and connect to the existing 14” sewer line at the base of the pier.

 

Sewage and wastewater generated onboard ships docked at the pier will be removed under pressure  using pumps; the required number of pumps, size and capacity are to be determined, designed and stamped by a qualified engineer.

 

All bids will be required to include a complete list of all potential subcontractors for the project. 

 

All bids will be required to be tabulated using current California State Prevailing wage rates.

 

The work for this project will take place over water in a marine environment. In addition to the insurance requirements listed below, Commercial Pollution Legal Liability Coverage insurance and a California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) Number will be required.

There will be a mandatory pre-bid walk/meeting onsite at Pier 2 (1499 Ferry Point) on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10:00 AM. A sign in sheet will be provided and signature required for the right to bid. The bid walk will be recorded and a copy of the resulting transcript will be provided to all qualified bidders.

 

All bids will be required to be delivered to the following location by no later than 2:00 p.m. (PDT) Friday, April 10, 2015. Submissions received beyond this date and time will be rejected. The City will announce the apparent lowest bidder on Wednesday, April 15, 2015.  The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in June 2015.
