Posey Tube Closed for Maintenance and Servicing

 

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced today that it will close the Posey Tube for maintenance and servicing from Alameda into Oakland effective Sunday May 1 through August 2016, the Posey Tube will be closed to vehicular traffic Sundays through Thursdays between the hours of 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM.

 

The pedestrian walkway will also be closed seven days a week, 24 hours a day.  Free TransMetro Shuttle Service will be available to all pedestrians, bicyclist and can accommodate wheelchairs as well.  Detours will be in place.

 

TransMetro Shuttle service can be contacted at (510) 830-5372.  There is a 30 minutes response window once the shuttle service is called.

 

Pick Up / Drop Off Locations are as follows during the walkway closure.

1. 4th Street and Harrison Street, Oakland, CA
2. Marina Village Parkway and Mariner Square Drive, Alameda, CA

 

Motorists are advised to expect delays and encouraged to take alternate routes if necessary and also that traffic fines are doubled in construction zones.  Please “Slow For The Cone Zone.”
