Alameda Sandbag Station Open Beginning Wednesday, December 6
To help Alamedans prepare for upcoming storms, Public Works is pleased to once again announce days and hours for its sandbag station. From Wednesday, December 6, through Friday, December 15, the sandbag station will be open on the following:
Days of the Week: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Time: 12 noon to 1:00 pm
Location: Lexington Street, just off West Tower Avenue
(old Alameda Naval Air Station)
If you are not able to pick up sandbags when the sandbag station is open, please contact Public Works at (510) 747-7900 to receive instructions for a self-serve area. Please note that the sandbag station is closed during storms, as staff are occupied with storm-related service requests from the public, Alameda Police, and others.
Alameda residents can receive up to five (5) free sandbags after showing proof of residency, such as an Alameda Municipal Power bill or current driver’s license with an Alameda address. Please call Public Works with any questions at (510) 747-7900 between 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. By working together, Alameda residents and Public Works can help lessen the impacts of storms this season.
