What is a Maker? We are all makers! Makers make things – they are inventers, builders, producers, designers, architects. They bake, craft, create, innovate, and more!
What is a Maker Faire? Maker Faire is described by organizers as showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo and in 2018 celebrated its thirteenth annual show. Today there are nearly 200 Maker Faires around the world. While larger Maker Faires draw more than 150,000 people, our Mini Maker Faire will help launch new makers on our island for years to come.
What Makers will be there? The line-up of makers is incredible! You will learn how to make things you have heard of, like soap, slime, beer, and jewelry. You will experience things you have never heard of but can imagine, like wild-fermented root kimchi, a mobile tinker bus, and a life-size game of operation. And you will experience things you have never heard of and are hard to even imagine, like the Unnecessarily High Five, a drivable red velvet cupcake, and the glovetopus! Check out our gallery of makers here: https://alameda.makerfaire.com/makers-exhibits/.
What other vendors will be there? This all day Mini Maker Faire includes food trucks, local beer and wine, and an amazing variety of bands and other entertainment for the whole family.
How much are tickets? Although the event is free, tickets to the family-friendly Mini Maker Faire are required for entry. Get your free tickets today: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/alameda-mini-maker-faire-2018-registration-44156164276 or read more here https://alameda.makerfaire.com.
