Annual Sewer Replacement Project Commencing

The City’s annual sewer rehabilitation project began in early October 2018, and is estimated to be complete by July 2019. Construction work hours are restricted from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near school locations, Monday through Friday.  The work will consist of rehabilitating aging sewer mains, laterals, and manholes at the following streets:

  • Brush Street, between Second Street and Third Street
  • Cypress Street, between Third Street and End
  • Haight Avenue, between Pacific Avenue and Third Street
  • Taylor Avenue, between Third Street and Fifth Street
  • Eighth Street, between Buena Vista Avenue and Stewart Court
  • Buena Vista Avenue, between Ninth Street and Chapin Street
  • Pacific Avenue, between Chapin Street and Sherman Street
  • Eagle Avenue, between Chapin Street and Sherman Street
  • Lafayette Street, between Santa Clara Avenue and Lincoln Avenue
  • Union Street, between San Antonio Avenue and End
  • Foley Street, between Tilden Way and Buena Vista Avenue
  • Noble Avenue, between Everett Street and Broadway
  • Chester Street, between Regent Street and Broadway
  • Jackson Street, between Grove Street and Mound Street
  • Briggs Avenue, between High Street and Fernside Boulevard
  • Washington Street, between Doris Court and Versailles Avenue
  • Clay Street, between Versailles Avenue and Mound Street
  • Post Street, between San Jose Avenue and End
  • Toyon Terrace between Post Street and End
  • Adams Street, between Post Street and Peach Street
  • Oyster Pond Road, between Robert Davey, Jr. Drive and Basinside Way

The City will notice residents approximately two weeks prior to the contractor mobilizing into a particular area. The contractor will also provide advance notice and will place “No Parking” signs 72-hours in advance of when the work will begin and parking restrictions will become effective.

We will make every effort to minimize disruptions. Sewer and water service will not be interrupted. The contractor will work to keep one lane of traffic open at all times, but motorists and residents may experience minor disruptions in traffic, temporary loss of on-street parking, an increase in noise levels, and dust during construction.

The City appreciates your cooperation and patience, and apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this project may cause. Questions or information regarding the project should be directed to Philip Lee at 510-747-7942. This project is funded by the Sewer Enterprise Fund.
