Alameda now accepting applications for the 2019 Art in City Hall Program

One year ago, the City Council approved Art in City Hall, a pilot program that for the last year has provided exhibit opportunities for professional and emerging Alameda artists and arts organizations, with the goal of supporting the local arts community, creating a memorable experience for the public, and celebrating Alameda’s diverse history and community.

Last night, the City Council voted to continue this program after the Public Art Commission met in August to confirm their support. As of today, applications are open for 2019!

Art is displayed in two galleries, on the first and third floors of City Hall. Each gallery features four exhibits per year. For more information, program guidelines, online application, and artist agreement, please visit https://alamedaca.gov/artincityhall.

Applications are due November 7, 2018. A lottery will follow and artists selected by lottery will be announced November 15, 2018. The first exhibit will be on display Friday, January 11, 2019.

Many thanks to the following arts who displayed their work in 2018:

·         Michael Sibio, Wendy Rabin

·         Patti Heimburger, Mtaani Foundation

·         Alameda on Camera @ the Frank Bette Center for the Arts, Jennifer Daily

·         Federica Colla, Ani Dimusheva
