The goals of the Alameda Fire Department Training Division include development and maintenance of the necessary skills of each individual, as well as group skills of the fire and medical companies, each platoon and the department. Career development and promotional testing are integral components of this division.
The Training Division provides training and proficiency testing in various areas such as fire suppression, emergency medical care, infection control, hazardous materials response, technical rescue, water rescue operations, urban wildland interface and D.M.V. employee testing program.
In addition, the division is also responsible for the development and implementation of fire department health and safety programs, including compliance with regulations, federal and state laws. The Training Division strives to satisfy all federal, state and locally mandated training requirements, while providing each individual with development opportunities.
