DIVISION CHIEF RICK WAGGENER
Chief Waggener joined the Alameda Fire Department as a Firefighter on April 1, 1996. He was promoted to Captain on July 6, 2001 and earned the honor of promoting to Division Chief on November 1, 2015. Chief Waggener has been an active member of the department over the years. Chief Waggener is a certified Fire Officer, and brings 24 years of experience to the positon. He served as a Technical Rescue Instructor and team member, Marine Operations Instructor and fire/rescue boat operator, a member of the Fire Investigation Team, and he is also a Hazardous Materials Specialist. He is the former program manager of the Marine Operations Program, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Program, and Janitorial Program. Chief Waggener’s responsibility as Division Chief will be to oversee the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) & Janitorial Program’s. He is also responsible for fire department Apparatus Program, overseeing care, maintenance, budgeting, and replacement of the department’s fire apparatus, ambulances, and staff vehicles.
Chief Waggener is a third generation member of the Alameda Fire Department. He had the honor and privilege to work with his uncle and great uncle, retired Division Chief and Apparatus Operator. His family has lived and worked in Alameda for the past 71 years. He currently resides in Alameda County with his wife Stephanie and his daughters Megan and Morgan. Chief Waggener and his family enjoy Disney, and traveling to any Disney related venue.
