Sandbag Station Open on Saturday’s beginning January 9th
To help Alamedans prepare for upcoming storms, Public Works is pleased to announce extended days and hours for its sandbag station. Beginning January 9, the sandbag station will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. From now until March 31, 2016, the sandbag station will be opened on the following days and hours:
Days and Times:
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Saturday - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Location:
On Lexington Street just off West Tower Avenue (old Alameda Naval Air Station)
Please note that the sandbag station is closed during storms, as staff are occupied with storm-related service requests from the public, Alameda Police, and others.
Alameda residents can receive up to five (5) free sandbags after showing proof of residency, such as an Alameda Municipal Power bill or current driver’s license with an Alameda address. Some sandbags are already filled, although residents should be prepared to fill their own. If you have any questions or comments, please call Public Works at 510-747-7900 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. By working together, Alameda residents and Public Works can help lessen the impacts of storms this season.
