The City of Alameda and East Bay Municipal Utility District will hold a public meeting to discuss potential changes to the City’s Private Sewer Lateral Ordinance (Alameda Municipal Code section 18-6). The ordinance identifies a property owner’s responsibilities for sewer lateral testing, repair, and replacement, especially at point of a sale or transfer. Repairing and/or replacing leaky laterals are an important requirement of the City’s obligations to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other regulatory agencies.
