On Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 6:30 p.m., the Public Works Department is holding a public workshop to discuss parking improvements for the Park Street and Webster Street shopping districts. The workshop will be held in the Alameda High School cafeteria, located at 2201 Encinal Avenue. Please enter from the Central Avenue side. The goal of the workshop is to help develop a plan that provides clearer, easier, and more convenient access to parking; that better supports our shopping districts; and reduces greenhouse gas emissions caused by cars circling for a parking space.
Staff will present findings from a recent community survey, a study of parking occupancies in the Park Street and Webster Street shopping districts, and a review of best practices. Staff will ask for the public’s input on ideas to improve signage, equipment, rates, and enforcement.
