tabber2Overview The Clement Avenue Extension/Tilden Way project is a gateway project adjacent to the Miller-Sweeney Bridge, in the eastern part of Alameda. The project, which was included in the City's 2017-2019 Capital Budget, will create a complete street, utilizing the abandoned railroad right of way along Tilden Way and the eastern terminus of Clement Avenue. This project will build the most eastern segment of the 4-mile east-west Cross Alameda Trail, and will directly connect to the Clement Avenue Complete Streets project, also part of the Cross Alameda Trail. In addition to creating safe and comfortable facilities for people walking and bicycling, it will consider ways to improve the truck and bus routes in the adjacent Northern Waterfront Priority Development Area. The result will be a truly multi-modal connection to the Miller-Sweeney Bridge, which in the future will be upgraded to a lifeline structure, with improved walking, biking and transit facilities. In April 2017, the Alameda County Transportation Commission awarded a grant to the City of Alameda for $8.4 million to implement this project. Outreach and concept plan development will take place in 2018. More information can be found on this sheet from the City's 2017-2019 Capital Budget:CIP Project Sheet This project connects directly to the City's Clement Avenue Complete Street project, and to the City of Oakland's planned and funded Fruitvale Avenue improvements. This project is funded by Measure BB, Alameda County's transportation sales tax. Town Hall Public outreach for this project will begin in 2018.
