Charles Curtis Blackwell at the Alameda Free Library
The Alameda Free Library is proud to present an afternoon featuring the visual art and literature of East Bay poet, playwright, performer, and painter Charles Curtis Blackwell. Please join us for this free event on Saturday, April 29, at 1:30pm, in the Meeting Room at the Main Library, located at 1550 Oak Street. The event will feature readings by Mr. Blackwell, a conversation with the audience and host Jeff M. Giordano, and a display of approximately 20 of Mr. Blackwell’s paintings.
For anyone unfamiliar with Charles Curtis Blackwell, his published plays and poetry include Is, The Color of Mississippi Mud and The Fiery Response to Love’s Callings. He has produced three spoken-word CDs in collaboration with jazz drummer Billy Toliver. Charles’ paintings have been shown from coast to coast and have received multiple awards. In 2009, he was one of three featured artists at Lighthouse for the Blind’s 20th anniversary exhibit in San Francisco.
Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to all.
1:30pm: Reception (for Charles’ visual art on display)
2pm – 3pm: Poetry Performance
3pm: Q&A, as time allows
