Alameda Sustainability Forum – Resilience and Carbon Sequestration
On Thursday, January 18, 2018, from 6-8 pm in Council Chambers at Alameda City Hall, the City of Alameda and Community Action for a Sustainable Alameda (CASA) will host a community forum on sustainability. Participants will learn about two research projects completed by Brown University students on opportunities for carbon sequestration in Alameda. Carbon sequestration could slow or even reverse global climate change. The forum will also feature two panelists: Gil Friend, noted sustainability leader and Chief Sustainability Officer of Palo Alto; and Kevin Bayuk, Senior Fellow at Project Drawdown, “the most comprehensive plan ever proposed to reverse global warming.” The forum will include an update from the City’s Climate Fellow on the City’s efforts to build resilience and adapt to locked-in climate impacts, including sea level rise.
