Libraries Lead

National Library Week is April 8 – 14.  "Libraries Transform: Libraries Lead” is the theme for this year’s National Library Week celebration, reminding everyone that libraries of all types serve as community compasses that lead users to endless opportunities for community engagement, enrichment and development.

If it’s been a while since you’ve been in a library, the evening of Tuesday, April 10th would be a great time to come in. From 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm the Alameda Free Library will be hosting a “get to know us again” event where you can find out about all the amazing things happening in your local library. Meet the Friends of the Alameda Free Library and learn about Alameda Reads. If you’re new to the Alameda area, this is also a great time to get a library card. You can learn about our programs, and even prepare for summer reading.

Everyone is welcome at this free event. Come tell us where libraries have led you!
