The Library Seeks Socks and Snacks for Operation Dignity

The Teen Advisory Board at the Alameda Free Library is seeking donations for a socks and snacks drive benefitting Operation Dignity. The Teen Advisory Board will be collecting items at the Main Library on 1550 Oak Street until Monday, October 22.

The Teen Advisory Board is collecting new, adult-sized socks, such as tube socks and warm socks. Individually wrapped snacks are also requested, including crackers, granola bars, oatmeal, hot chocolate, protein shakes, nuts, pretzels, applesauce cups, pudding cups, and dried soup.

Operation Dignity assists homeless veterans and their families. They provide emergency, transitional and permanent housing for homeless veterans in Alameda County, California. They also offer comprehensive support services, nutritious meals and a strong peer community. Their goal is to help veterans rediscover hope and provide the tools needed to live a self-sufficient and stable life.

The Teen Advisory Board is a group of teens who help plan library programs and events. Teens, ages 13 to 18, are invited to join at any meeting on the first Wednesday of the month at 5:30 PM. Contact Teen Services Librarian Hallie Fields at hfields@alamedaca.gov for more information.
