Tinker Bus to Visit the Alameda Free Library
The Alameda Free Library and Tinker Bus have teamed up to bring a working STEAM lab to all three branch libraries on the first Saturday of November, December, and January. A classroom on wheels, the Tinker Bus is designed to help young makers think outside the box. Kids in first through fourth grades will be able to tinker, play, ask questions, solve problems, and learn in this mobile maker space.
One session will be held at each of the three Alameda Free Library branches and registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to sign up at their neighborhood library and to only sign up for one session, so as many children as possible will have the opportunity to participate.
On Saturday, November 3, the Tinker Bus will be at the Main Library at 10:30 a.m. To register, please call the Children’s Department at 510-747-7705. The Main Library, located at 1550 Oak Street, is served by AC Transit routes 21, 51A, and O.
On Saturday, December 1, the Tinker Bus will be at the West End Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. To register, please call 510-747-7767. The West End Branch Library, located at 788 Santa Clara Ave., is served by AC Transit routes 20, 51A, and O.
On Saturday, January 5, the Tinker Bus will be at the Bay Farm Island Branch Library at 10:30 a.m. To register, please call 510-747-7787. The Bay Farm Island Branch Library, located at 3221 Mecartney Road, is served by AC Transit route 21.
Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Alameda Free Library, these programs are free and open to the public. All Alameda Free Library branches are wheelchair accessible and have bicycle parking racks available.
