The Alameda Free Library, the Islamic Center of Alameda and the Alameda Multicultural Community Center are pleased to announce that the four-part cultural event, “Muslim Journeys: An exploration and celebration of the intertwined histories of Islam and the West”, has been selected as an awardee of the Muslim Journeys Bookshelf, a project of the National Endowment for the Humanities Bridging Cultures Initiative in cooperation with the American Library Association.
This Alameda program was one of 842 recipients nationally who were invited to participate. The four-part series will take place on January 20, February 17, March 16 and April 18, 2013 and will include film and book discussions.
All events are free and open to the public. Parents are encouraged to bring children who are able to join in the discussions. Books to be discussed will be available to check out at the Main Library, please contact the Adult Reference Desk for copies.
