GET YOUR BIKE REPAIRED AT THE LIBRARY
We are excited to see so many people riding their bikes to the library and around our community, but bikes require maintenance and care.
If your bike is making one of those mystery sounds or collecting dust because it has a flat tire, bring it to the Alameda Free Library, 1550 Oak Street, on Saturday, August 27 from 10 AM to 2 PM.
The BikeMobile can fix flat tires, adjust brakes and gears, and even replace broken or worn out parts like chains, seats, and tires. The BikeMobile cannot replace missing gears or wheels. While the mechanics work on your bike they’ll explain how it works and how to keep it running smooth. In addition to getting a tune up, you can add some style to your ride by adding colored tape to the frame at the decoration station. There will also be a Fix-A-Flat workshop at 10:30 AM. The BikeMobile will serve guests on a first come - first served basis on the 27th. Bike or no bike, everyone is welcome to attend to learn about maintenance, safety, and more!
This service is offered through the Alameda County Transportation Commission’s Safe Routes To Schools program, funded by Measure B and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Climate Initiatives program, and staffed by Cycles of Change.
Contact the Reference Desk at 510-747-7713 if you have any questions.
