The City of Alameda’s Social Services Human Relations Board (SSHRB) is pleased to announce its second annual City of Alameda Community Service Awards, recognizing extraordinary community volunteers for their dedication and service to our community. The award winners will be recognized at the October 20, 2015 City Council meeting, in conjunction with a proclamation naming November 1st as “Extra Mile Day.” This is a day where the City of Alameda urges all community members to take time to “go the extra mile” in his or her own life and to acknowledge those who are inspirational in their efforts and commitment to make our community a better place.
The SSHRB is accepting nominations for the following categories:
- Community Service Lifetime Achievement Award. Recognizing extraordinary commitment and service to the community for 25 years or more.
- Community Service Volunteer of the Year Award. Recognizing extraordinary service to the community of Alameda for 10 or more years.
- Community Service Award – Individual. Recognizing an individual who has performed an act of extraordinary community service.
- Community Service Awards – Youth. Recognizing the outstanding commitment and contributions made by youth to their community. Two Awards will be presented in this category.
- Community Service Award - Non Profit Board Member. Recognizing the service of a Board member of a non-profit serving the community of Alameda. The Board member must have served for at least 5 years.
- Community Service Award - Non Profit Organization. Recognizing an organization whose extraordinary service to the community has made Alameda a better place in which to live.
