Library backpacks seek adventurers!

The Alameda Free Library has adventure backpacks ready to loan out!

Wanted: Individuals, families, or groups looking for fun in the outdoors. Must be open to breezes, picnic lunches, exploring new trails, and maybe just watching bugs crawl.

Where: Any of the over 120 parks that surround Alameda. There are National, State, Regional and City parks all around us just waiting to be explored. Many are within easy driving distances (<1 hour) and quite a few can be reached by public transportation!

What you bring: Your library card and your curiosity. Maybe your lunch and some sunscreen, too.

What’s in the backpack: Maps, trail guides, Junior Ranger badge activities, field guides, binoculars and more! Just about everything you need to get out into the “wilderness”, whether that’s in your back yard or the back-of-beyond!

How we meet: Bring your library card to any Alameda Free Library location and check out a backpack for up to three weeks. We’ll go on as many adventures as you like. We’d love it if you’d share some photos of our adventure on the library’s Facebook page, or just tell the staff where you went or what you did. We backpacks are very adventurous, we’ll go anywhere you want to go. Let’s have some fun this summer!
