Animal Control Assistants

Animal Control was established to keep Alameda a safe and clean environment for pets and pet owners. The City has one, part-time Animal Control Assistant who has jurisdiction from Alameda Point to Harbor Bay Parkway and everything in between, including Coast Guard Island.

The Animal Control Assistant enforces the laws of the City. She also picks up stray animals, patrols the streets, parks, and beaches, and removes animal carcasses. She also responds to barking dog complaints, aggressive animals, and bite incidents. She is always ready and willing to offer advice on responsible pet ownership.
