Property and Evidence

The Alameda Police Department’s Property and Evidence Bureau is responsible for all items that are collected as evidence or seized property.  When property is collected or turned it, the item is inventoried and categorized using a bar-code system that is similar to those found in grocery stores.  Once collected, the item is secured and tracked until such time the item is needed for court, is returned to the rightful owner, or is destroyed.  Currently the bureau is managed by one sergeant and one Police Service Technician, (PST). The PST processes over 4000+ pieces of property and evidence a year, including narcotics and firearms.

If you have questions regarding collected property or you believe APD may be holding your property, please call PST Barbara Leahy at (510) 337-8432 Monday through Thursday from 7:00am to 4:00pm; or email her at: bleahy@alamedaca.gov
